Defense
Defense is the main defensive stat that reduces incoming damage by a percentage. Its effect can be reduced by enemy Penetration.
How It Works
- Base Defense Reduction =
Defense / (600 + 2 × Target Level + Defense) - Penetration Modifier =
max(0, 1 - Effective Penetration / Defense)
The same defense value is stronger against lower-level targets and weaker against higher-level targets.
If enemy penetration reaches the target's defense value, the visible defense portion is fully canceled. A small level-based minimum reduction can still remain.
Example Values
Without penetration:
- Level 1, 1,000 Defense: about
62.4%reduction - Level 200, 1,000 Defense: about
50.0%reduction - Level 200, 5,000 Defense: about
83.3%reduction - Very high Defense: capped at
95%
Typical Values
These values can be increased further with temporary buffs. For example a fully buffed Heavy Armor Class with Battle Mode 3 active can have >10,000 defense.
- Early Game: 0-2,000
- Mid Game: 2,000-6,500
- End Game: >6,500
Penetration Interaction
Defense effectiveness is reduced by enemy Penetration. When penetration reaches the target's defense, the visible defense portion is effectively canceled, but a small level-based minimum reduction can still remain.
For practical comparisons across different defense and penetration values, see the Penetration Effectiveness Table.
Sources
- Primary Source: Armor, Vehicles, Accessories and their various upgrades (Divine, Extreme, Chaos)
- Secondary Sources: Passive Skills, various progression systems, Force Shielder class bonuses
- Temporary Boosts: GM Buffs, other temporary buffs (Platinum Buff, etc.)
PvE and PvP Variants
The base stat is always used first, then the matching PvE or PvP variant is added on top.
Notes and Tips
- Level Matters: The same Defense value is stronger on lower-level targets and weaker on higher-level targets
- 95% Cap: Defense reduction cannot exceed 95%, regardless of Defense value
- Minimum Reduction Floor: In tested PvE cases, a small level-based minimum reduction remains even when visible defense is fully canceled
- Penetration Vulnerability: High penetration can significantly reduce Defense effectiveness
- Balance Priority: Consider Ignore Penetration alongside raw Defense
