Penetration

Penetration is an offensive stat that makes a target's Defense less effective. The more Penetration you have, the less damage is reduced by the target's Defense. For practical breakpoints against different Defense values, see the Penetration Effectiveness Table.

How It Works

Enemy Ignore Penetration and your Cancel Ignore Penetration interact on a 1:1 basis before penetration is applied to defense.

If your effective penetration is equal to the target's defense, the defense is fully cancelled (you have reached the penetration cap for that target). A small level-based minimum reduction can still remain.

If effective penetration becomes negative, it does not stop at 0. Instead, the target's defense becomes more effective until the 95% defense cap is reached.

Example

Against an enemy with 1,000 Defense:

  • 0 Penetration: Enemy takes about 50% reduced damage from defense
  • 500 Penetration: Enemy takes about 25% reduced damage from defense
  • 1,000 Penetration: Visible defense is fully canceled, but the level floor can still remain

Typical Use

Penetration is most valuable against targets with high defense. As enemy defense rises, reducing that defense effect becomes more important for maintaining damage output.

Sources

  • Primary Source: Equipment and their various upgrades, option slots
  • Secondary Sources: Many progression systems throughout the game
  • Temporary Boosts: GM Buffs, Penetration Potions

PvE and PvP Variants

The base stat is always used first, then the matching PvE or PvP variant is added on top.

Notes and Tips

  • Defense Dependent: Its value depends on the target's Defense
  • Countered by Ignore Penetration: Enemy Ignore Penetration reduces your effective penetration before the defense calculation
  • More Valuable on High-Defense Targets: It usually has a larger impact against enemies with high defense
  • Level Still Matters: Even at full visible defense cancellation, a small level-based floor can remain
  • Can Become Negative: If enemy Ignore Penetration is higher than your penetration after counters, the target's defense becomes more effective

Formula

Final Defense Reduction = min(95%, max(Level Floor, trunc(Base Defense Reduction × (1 - Effective Penetration / Defense), 4 decimals)))
